We arrived at Denali on July 28th and stayed at Rainbow RV park.








On the 29th we took a bus to the dog sled area, and watched a demonstration. The dogs got so excited when the sled came out. The all wanted to go.






This is a very old building now used to keep the dog's gear. The dogs are actually used in the winter to patrol the perimiter of the park.










They all liked to be petted.
The dogs are not big and husky like I thought they would be.










We hiked back instead of taking the bus

On Saturday, July 30, we left on the 12 hr bus ride at 6:00AM in hopes of seeing wildlife and Mt. McKinley. It just wasn't our day. We did see sleet though.

Our first stop was at a high overlook. It was still foggy.

We played with caribu horns at one of the stops.

We had a picnic lunch at Wonder Lake, but the smoke from a nearby fire and clouds did not allow a view of the mountain.

We had fun picking blueberries. The plants grow on top of the ground because of perma frost. Walking on them feels spongy.
