Dawson Creek. BC

Our first stop was Dawson Creek, BC.....the beginning of the Alaskan Hwy

From Dawson Creek we traveled to Ft. Nelson.
It was a rainy day. The park had a spray wash available so we took advantage of that. They also had an ethernet connection, so Eleanor I & caught up on our e-mails.

Watson Lake, BC

We left Ft. Nelson early and stopped at Muncho Lake. The park was booked with the Foretravel Motorcade, and there were lots of mosquitos.

So we drove on to Watson Lake,
arriving late in the afternoon. RVs were lined up to get in so we felt very fortunate to get a spot that had been reserved, but was a no-show.
Watson Lake is another of those famous must see places even though is is not more than a wide plade in the road. Hours can be spent reading all the signposts.

Mileage today was 320 miles from Ft. Nelson to Watson Lake

Whitehorse, BC

June 5th.

We left Ft. Nelson at 5:50 AM. It was rainy but cleared up later. One picture I like is this one of this bridge at Teslin.
We arrived at Whitehorse - 270 miles down the road, and stayed at Pioneer RV park - very nice.
They offer an RV wash so that was the project for the afternoon. They also had free Wi-Fi.

We had decided not to make the drive to Skagway, but the park offered a bus/train package that was too good to pass up.

The sun was still shining at 10:00 PM.

Yukon Whitepass Railroad

The bus picked us up at the park, and to our disappointment it was a dreary day. We stopped to take pictures at Emerald Lake and the township of Carcross. The little store in that town had an amazing amount ot "stuff". Watch for it in the slide show.

The bus took us to Fraser, BC. By departure time, it was starting to clear. We arrived in Skagway around 1:00AM, had lunch and time to walk around before boarding the bus back to Whitehorse a 3 1/2 hour ride. There were lots of lakes and mountains.
